Elizabeth Macrelli: Leading the Charge in Solar Recruitment

My name is Elizabeth Macrelli, and I currently serve as the National Recruiting Manager for Retail and Events at Momentum Solar. With over a decade of experience in recruiting and sales, including more than eight years in the solar sector, I like to think I bring a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in this industry. I joined the Momentum Solar team nearly two years ago as a Hiring Manager for the Retail department and was promoted to my current role in June 2024. Though I’m originally from New York, I now call South Carolina home, where I live with my husband.

Throughout my career, I’ve specialized in recruiting top talent to represent key partnerships, including BJ’s Wholesale Clubs. Identifying individuals who thrive in customer-facing roles has been a cornerstone of my success. I work closely with my team to ensure we’re not just filling positions, we’re hiring exceptional talent that aligns with our mission of helping homeowners transition to solar energy. This work is especially important as we focus on easing the burden of high electricity bills and empowering people to take control of their energy usage through renewable solutions.

A big part of my role is supporting our managers in maintaining strong relationships with our retail partners. Our team’s objective is to build a cohesive group of brand ambassadors who are not only focused on sales but on educating retail customers about the financial benefits of going solar. This goes beyond hiring for short-term success. We are committed to cultivating leaders who will grow with the company and continue making a lasting impact in the renewable energy industry.

Currently, I lead a small but dedicated team, and as we continue to grow, I plan to expand it further. By building a strong recruitment team, we can support more internal promotions, create growth opportunities for top performers, and ultimately reduce the financial burden for homeowners dealing with rising energy costs. Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue fostering the development of my team. I aim to recognize and promote those who demonstrate dedication and skill in recruitment, potentially moving them into senior roles such as Senior Hiring Manager or Assistant Recruiting Manager. My goal is to help them thrive both professionally and personally within the ever-growing and dynamic environment of Momentum Solar.

Together, we are leading the charge in the solar industry, one hire at a time.

Holly Jones: Why I Joined the Solar Revolution

The Talent Acquisition Department is the lifeblood of any company, and at Momentum Solar, it’s no different. Our mission is clear: to find and secure individuals who are not only passionate about renewable energy but also dedicated to contributing to our company’s rapid growth in the solar industry. Whether we’re identifying canvassers to represent our brand, sales consultants who can educate homeowners on the benefits of solar power, or leadership roles that will drive our teams forward, each hire directly shapes the future of our company—and that impact is undeniable.

As someone working within the Talent Acquisition Department, I can say firsthand that recruiting is not just about filling roles; it’s about finding individuals whose goals align with the core values of Momentum Solar. The solar industry is unique. We’re not just offering a job—we’re offering a chance to be part of a movement that is reshaping the way the world consumes energy. With renewable energy becoming more crucial than ever, particularly solar, it’s essential that the people we bring on board are looking for a paycheck, yes, but also seeking a long-term career in an industry that is poised to change the world.

I was drawn to Momentum Solar for a number of reasons, not the least of which was its origins. The company started from humble beginnings, operating out of an actual warehouse back in the day, and has since grown to become a leader in the renewable energy space. That resilience and growth story resonated with me, giving me confidence that I was joining a company with deep roots and a bright future. At a time when many within the industry are experiencing uncertainty, Momentum Solar continues to grow, providing both career stability and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

My journey here began as a hiring manager, and I quickly transitioned into a corporate recruiter role. This shift allowed me to combine my passion for people with the company’s mission of expanding access to solar energy. Every time I help someone start their career here, I know I’m contributing to the greater goal of a sustainable future. Being part of one of the fastest-growing solar company in the country and seeing that direct connection between the people we hire and the difference we make in our communities has been incredibly rewarding.

Recently, I was promoted to Development Manager, a role that has allowed me to focus even more on cultivating talent within the company. In this position, I oversee the growth of new Originators over a 5 to 6-week period, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. Initially, stepping into this new leadership role was a challenge. There were times I questioned whether I could meet the high standards I set for myself and those that Momentum Solar expects of its leaders. However, as I found my stride, it became clear that developing Originators isn’t just about training—it’s about mentoring, motivating and empowering them to thrive in a fast-paced industry.

The most gratifying part of my job is seeing how far our team members can go. Solar energy is a rapidly evolving field, and those who come in with a strong work ethic and the drive to succeed will find endless opportunities here. Watching new hires grow from nervous beginners into confident experts who are making real differences in people’s lives by helping them transition to clean energy is the highlight of my career. It’s a daily reminder that success is not just about personal achievements; it’s about fostering the growth and development of those around you.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned throughout my time here is that hard work and dedication truly pay off. Working in talent acquisition has put me at the forefront of the company’s expansion, and it’s a powerful reminder that those who commit to their work will find that the rewards go far beyond professional advancement. They’ll find themselves part of something bigger—a movement with true momentum that’s changing the world one solar panel at a time.
